Gisteren dachten wij een glimp van hem op te vangen bij de opening van het Film Fest Gent, maar intussen heeft <strong>Pieter-Jan De Pue<\/strong> met zijn hybride speelfilmdebuut<em> &#8216;The Land of the Enlightened&#8217;<\/em>\u00a0 op het Filmfestival van Keulen\u00a0de Phoenix Prijs gewonnen. De onderscheiding wordt er jaarlijks uitgereikt door de gelijknamige Duitse nieuwszender. Ondertussen werd &#8216;The Land of the Enlightened&#8217; ook verkocht aan Duitsland, waar de film in november in de zalen komt.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Jaarlijks bekroont de Duitse nieuwszender Phoenix tijdens het Filmfestival van Keulen (7-14 oktober) een internationaal invloedrijke kunstenaar die werkzaam is binnen film en televisie. De prijs, goed voor 10.000 EUR, ging vorig jaar nog naar de voor een Oscar genomineerde documentairemaker <strong>Joshua Oppenheimer<\/strong> (<em>&#8216;The Act of Killing&#8217;, &#8216;The Look of Silence&#8217;<\/em>). Om maar aan te geven in welke orde van zwaargewichten we spreken.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinevox.be\/nl\/the-land-of-the-enlightened-wint-phoenix-prijs-in-keulen\/12366135_1069287593095140_311610841784134774_o\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-91593\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-91593\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cinevox.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/12366135_1069287593095140_311610841784134774_o-800x532.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/12366135_1069287593095140_311610841784134774_o-800x532.jpg 800w, https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/12366135_1069287593095140_311610841784134774_o-405x270.jpg 405w, https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/12366135_1069287593095140_311610841784134774_o.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dit jaar valt Pieter-Jan De Pue de eer dus te beurt nadat hij de aandacht van de jury wist te trekken met zijn eerste speelfilm, een cross-over tussen fictie en documentaire die een po\u00ebtisch beeldverhaal schetst van een groep Afghaanse kinderen. De Pue zal er op vrijdag 14 oktober de award officieel overhandigd krijgen tijdens de prijsuitreiking van het festival. De film wordt er daags voordien ook vertoond in de Look sectie.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The Land of the Enlightened&#8217; ging in januari in wereldpremi\u00e8re op het prestigieuze Sundance Film Festival \u2013 meteen goed voor de Speciale Juryprijs voor Beste Fotografie \u2013 gevolgd door vertoningen op onder meer het Filmfestival van Rotterdam, Visions du R\u00e9el, Hot Docs en Sheffield Doc\/Fest.<\/p>\n<p>Midden augustus raakte bovendien bekend dat &#8216;The Land of the Enlightened&#8217; deel uitmaakt van de selectie van 15 Europese documentaire die kans maken op een nominatie voor de European Film Awards.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinevox.be\/nl\/the-land-of-the-enlightened-wint-phoenix-prijs-in-keulen\/11536458_976581479032419_3672312271982629128_o-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-91594\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-91594\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cinevox.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/11536458_976581479032419_3672312271982629128_o-800x535.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/11536458_976581479032419_3672312271982629128_o-800x535.jpg 800w, https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/11536458_976581479032419_3672312271982629128_o-403x270.jpg 403w, https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/10\/11536458_976581479032419_3672312271982629128_o.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ondertussen is de film ook verkocht aan Duitsland waar hij in november in de bioscoop uitgebracht wordt door Real Fiction Filme. De Duitse distributeur verdeelde eerder al <strong>Peter Kr\u00fcger<\/strong>s <em>&#8216;N &#8211; The Madness of Reason&#8217;<\/em> en het met Vlaanderen gecoproduceerde <em>&#8216;Gardenia \u2013 Before the Last Curtain Falls&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The Land of the Enlightened&#8217; is een productie van Bart Van Langendonck voor Savage Film (Le pass\u00e9 devant nous, D\u2019Ardennen, Rundskop) en wordt internationaal vertegenwoordigd door UTA (voor de VS) en Films Boutique (wereldwijd, m.u.v. de VS).
