CLERMONT-FERRAND\/BRUSSEL De korte film ‘De Smet’<\/em> van de Vlaamse regisseurs Wim Geudens<\/strong> en Thomas Baerten<\/strong> heeft op het Internationaal Kortfilmfestival van Clermont-Ferrand (30 januari – 7 februari) de Canal+ Award gewonnen. Beide regisseurs waren aanwezig tijdens de slotceremonie om er de prijs persoonlijk in ontvangst te nemen.<\/p>\n

De korte film ‘De Smet’ is een tragikomedie waarin Tom Audenaert<\/strong>, Sven De Ridder<\/strong> en Stefaan Degand<\/strong> drie broers vertolken. Ze zijn volledig op elkaar afgestemd om het leven als alleenstaande man zo gemakkelijk mogelijk te maken. Maar wanneer een nieuwe buurvrouw in hun straat komt wonen, stort hun synergie als een kaartenhuisje in elkaar.<\/p>\n

Die combinatie van humor en drama werd erg goed onthaald in Clermont-Ferrand, waar de film binnen de internationale competitie te zien was, zowel bij het grote publiek als bij de jury. De Canal+ Award in Clermont-Ferrand is bovendien niet de eerste prijs voor ‘De Smet’. De film won eerder tijdens het Internationaal Kortfilmfestival van Leuven al de Publieksprijs en de HUMO Award. ‘De Smet’ werd ondertussen ook al verkocht aan Canal+ en Japan.<\/p>\n

‘De Smet’ werd geproduceerd in het kader van het Masterplan Filmtalent Limburg in Nederland, een initiatief van Elbe Stevens Films en Lumi\u00e8re Cinema Maastricht, en wordt internationaal vertegenwoordigd door de Nederlandse sales agent SND Films. Uitvoerend producent in Belgi\u00eb was Ben Vandendaele<\/strong> van Bekke Films (‘Siemiany’, ‘De weg van alle vlees’<\/em>) die ook aanwezig was in Clermont-Ferrand om de film te promoten.<\/p>\n
