In <em>Real Faces<\/em> speelt Buysse Julia, een vrouw die zich staande probeert te houden in een grootstedelijke omgeving waar ambitie en een toxische werkomgeving haar ertoe aanzetten haar eigen grenzen te overschrijden. Naast die professionele druk verkent de film ook stedelijke eenzaamheid, via de onverwachte vriendschap die Julia opbouwt met haar huisgenoot Eliott, een microbioloog gespeeld door Gorges Ocloo. De film speelt zich af in Brussel, een stad die cameraman Grimm Vandekerckhove met een kenmerkende zachtheid en weemoed in beeld brengt. <em>Real Faces<\/em> vermijdt makkelijke antwoorden en houdt vast aan nuance en twijfel.
