De film kreeg zes prijzen, en drie daarvan (film, regie en scenario) zijn voor Paul Thomas Anderson. Laat niemand er dus nog aan twijfelen dat de man \u00e9\u00e9n van de boegbeelden van de hedendaagse Amerikaanse cinema is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Al even opmerkelijk: de definitieve doorbraak van genrefilms (lees: horror) als Oscarwaardige cinema, want zowel <em>Sinners<\/em> (vier keer!), <em>Weapons<\/em> als <em>Frankenstein <\/em>vielen in de prijzen. Waar winnaars zijn, zijn echter helaas ook verliezers, en dat was dit jaar vooral <em>Marty Supreme<\/em>. De film viel dan wel zeer in de smaak bij de critici en zette alle zeilen bij tijdens de Oscarcampagne, het pareltje van regisseur Josh Safdie en hoofdacteur Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet wist geen enkele van zijn negen nominaties te verzilveren. Dat had hij eerlijk gezegd ook niet verdiend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">De Academy Awards 2026 zal ook nog om enkele andere redenen een apart plaatsje krijgen in de geschiedenisboeken. Zo werd Jessie Buckley (<em>Hamnet<\/em>) de allereerste Ierse actrice met een Oscar, is Autumn Dural Arkapaw (<em>Sinners<\/em>) de eerste vrouwelijke cinematografe die een prijs krijgt en ging de allereerste Oscar voor casting naar Cassandra Kulukundis (<em>One Battle After Another<\/em>).
