De film in kwestie heet <\/strong><strong><em>We Bury the Dead<\/em><\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>een survival-thriller geschreven en geregisseerd door <\/strong><strong>Zak Hilditch<\/strong><strong>, die ook al onder meer de sfeervolle Stephen King-verfilming <\/strong><strong><em>1922<\/em><\/strong><strong> op zijn cv heeft staan<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>We Bury the Dead<\/em> speelt zich af in Tasmani\u00eb, op een moment dat een Amerikaans militair experiment compleet fout is gelopen en een wereldwijde catastrofe heeft veroorzaakt die massaal mensenlevens heeft gekost. Het personage van Daisy Ridley is Ava Newman, een wanhopige vrouw die haar vermiste echtgenoot wil terugvinden en zich daarom aansluit bij een \u2018eenheid die lichamen bergt\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Haar zoektocht neemt een sinistere en huiveringwekkende wending wanneer de lichamen die haar eenheid (en zij zelf) moeten begraven plots opnieuw teken van leven beginnen te vertonen. De manier waarop Hilditch zijn postapocalyptische wereld beschrijft, focust zich minder op de actie en het bloedvergieten dan op de emotionele impact van zo\u2019n wereldwijde catastrofe. Hoe overlevenden omgaan met hun verlies en het feit dat ze geen afscheid hebben kunnen nemen. Een intrigerende variant op het genre, als je het ons vraagt. In tegenstelling tot wat de militaire overheid beweert, blijkt van traag strompelende en hersendode zombies bovendien geen sprake te zijn. Zoals Ava al snel ontdekt.<\/p>\n<p><em>We Bury the Dead<\/em> kondigt zich aan als een brutale en intense nachtmerrie, met als decor een wereld die al in elkaar is gestort. Het ruwe landschap van Tasmani\u00eb zet dat nog meer in de verf.<\/p>\n<p>De film komt in januari in de Amerikaanse zalen.
