Dat staat allemaal op het menu in <em>The Thomas Crown Affair<\/em>. En dat verhaal staat op het punt om in al zijn glorie terug te keren naar het witte doek. De langverwachte nieuwe remake is in ontwikkeling, met 2027 als geplande releasedatum. Na twee iconische versies ligt de lat hoog voor deze nieuwe interpretatie van de meest verfijnde gentleman-inbreker uit de filmgeschiedenis.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even alles op een rijtje: het verhaal van Thomas Crown was al twee keer eerder te zien op het grote scherm. In de originele film uit 1968 nam de legendarische Steve McQueen de titelrol voor zijn rekening, met Faye Dunaway als de verzekeringsdetective die hem achternazit. Die versie werd geprezen om zijn stijl, zijn jazzy score en zijn memorabele achtervolgingssc\u00e8nes, en de film cre\u00eberde meteen ook een archetypisch personage.<\/p>\n<p>In 1999 kwam er een remake, toen met Pierce Brosnan in de hoofdrol en Rene Russo op zijn hielen (en aan zijn zijde). Die versie gaf de plot een modern tintje en legde de nadruk meer op de romantische en sensuele vonken tussen de hoofdpersonages. Het werd een succes aan de kassa en bij de critici, wat meteen bewees hoe tijdloos en relevant de figuur van Thomas Crown is.<\/p>\n<p>Nu is de man dus terug, en we weten al dat Michael B. Jordan (<em>Sinners<\/em>, foto) hem deze keer gestalte zal geven. Jordan zal de nieuwe <em>Thomas Crown Affair<\/em> ook regisseren, meteen zijn tweede beurt achter de camera na <em>Creed III<\/em>. Hij krijgt het gezelschap van Lily Gladstone, die een Oscarnominatie oogstte voor haar vertolking in <em>Killers of the Flower Moon<\/em> van Martin Scorsese. Ook Kenneth Branagh (de meest recente Poirot) en Danai Gurira (een superster sinds <em>The Walking Dead<\/em> en <em>Black Panther<\/em>) zijn van de partij. Net als Taylor Russell (<em>Bones and All<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><em>The Thomas Crown Affair<\/em> zit nog een pril stadium maar de verwachtingen zijn toch al hooggespannen. Reken maar dat de vele fans van de franchise dit nauwlettend in de gaten houden.
