Het Locarno Film Festival, dat al sinds 1946 filmmakers van over de hele wereld verwelkomt, staat bekend om zijn artistiek uitdagende programmatie en is een broedplaats voor nieuw talent. Met een plek in het speciaal voor jong publiek bedoelde Kids-programma, toont <em>Fantastique<\/em> zijn ambitie om grensoverschrijdend \u00e9n generatie-overschrijdend te zijn.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Een meisjesdroom in balans<\/h4>\n<p><em>Fantastique<\/em> vertelt het verhaal van de 14-jarige Fanta, een van de weinige meisjes in een circusgroep in Guinee-Conakry. Tussen het trainen door zorgt ze voor haar zieke moeder en probeert ze school vol te houden. Haar droom? De grote acrobatieshow halen. Maar hoe combineer je kind zijn met volwassen verantwoordelijkheden? Terwijl verwachtingen en verplichtingen haar in verschillende richtingen trekken, groeit Fanta\u2019s twijfel. En zo begint ze aan een stille, innerlijke zoektocht naar haar eigen stem.<\/p>\n<p>De film weeft op intieme wijze documentaire en magisch-realisme door elkaar, en schetst een po\u00ebtisch portret van een jong meisje op het kruispunt van kindertijd en volwassenheid. Het resultaat is een ontwapenende coming-of-age die zowel ontroert als inspireert.<\/p>\n<h4>Internationale samenwerking<\/h4>\n<p>Fantastique is geschreven en geregisseerd door <strong>Marjolijn Prins<\/strong>, en werd geproduceerd door <strong>Ellen De Waele<\/strong> en <strong>Mirna Everhard<\/strong> voor <strong>Serendipity Films<\/strong>, in coproductie met het Franse <strong>VraiVrai Films<\/strong>, het Nederlandse <strong>The Film Kitchen<\/strong> en het Belgische <strong>Stenola Productions<\/strong>.
