McQ \u2014 zoals de vrienden hem mogen noemen \u2014 was eerder al verantwoordelijk voor de laatste vier delen van <em>Mission: Impossible<\/em> en schreef ook mee <em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>. Nu laat hij weten dat hij ook een \u00ab<em>ijzersterk<\/em>\u00bb verhaal bedacht heeft voor een derde <em>Top Gun<\/em>. Met andere woorden: die film zou er wel eens sneller kunnen komen dan gedacht!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Het was McQuarrie zelf die de kat de bel aanbond in de podcast <em>Happy Sad Confused<\/em>. \u00ab<em>Het was Ehren Kruger<\/em> [bekend als (co-)scenarist van onder meer <em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>, <em>Dumbo<\/em>, <em>The Ring<\/em> en vier <em>Transformer<\/em>-films] <em>die met een idee kwam aandraven<\/em>\u00bb, zei de cineast\/scenarist. \u00ab<em>Het klonk zeer beloftevol, we hebben er \u00e9\u00e9n keer over gebrainstormd en plots was de hele ruwe plot klaar. Het is dus eerlijk gezegd niet zo moeilijk om een nieuw verhaal te verzinnen, en dat geldt voor al die films. Het eerste wat je je moet afvragen, is waarom die films zijn zoals ze zijn. En het antwoord is dat het niet om de actie draait. Het draait zelfs niet om het volume of de intensiteit of de impact of de grootte van de actie en de stunts. Dat maakt allemaal niet zoveel uit. Wat telt, is de emotie.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En of McQuarrie de regie van <em>Top Gun 3<\/em> voor zijn rekening wil nemen, wou de interviewer nog weten. \u00ab<em>Daar heb ik nog totaal niet aan gedacht<\/em>\u00bb, klonk het antwoord. \u00ab<em>Maar ik heb wel al heel veel research verricht naar hoe Tony Scott<\/em> [die in 1986 de originele <em>Top Gun<\/em> draaide] <em>zijn films maakte.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Een releasedatum heeft de volgende <em>Top Gun<\/em> nog niet, maar in de wandelgangen wordt gefluisterd dat het zelfs al voor volgend jaar zou kunnen zijn.
