‘Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat’<\/strong>
\n\u2018Soundtrack to a Coup d\u2019\u00c9tat\u2019 belicht een van de meest verraderlijke politieke machinaties van de 20e eeuw: hoe de Belgische monarchie, de regering van de Verenigde Staten en multinationals samenspanden om kunstinstellingen en legendarische jazzmuzikanten als dekmantel te gebruiken voor geheime operaties om de premier van Congo, Patrice Lumumba, te vermoorden. De documentaire is opgebouwd uit archiefbeelden en historische muziekopnames, met als thema de postkoloniale strijd om de rijke grondstoffenvoorraden van Congo na de onafhankelijkheid in 1960. Johan Grimonprez schreef het scenario en regisseerde de film.<\/p>\n

De wereldpremi\u00e8re van ‘Soundtrack to a Coup d\u2019Etat’ vond plaats in Sundance in januari van dit jaar, waar de film werd bekroond met de Special Jury Award for Cinematic Innovation. Sindsdien is de film al vertoond op verschillende festivals wereldwijd. Bij ons komt de film\u00a0in de zalen op 11 september.<\/p>\n

‘Julie Zwijgt’<\/strong>
\nSinds de wereldpremi\u00e8re in Cannes is ‘Julie Zwijgt’ uitgenodigd voor de filmfestivals van Karlovy Vary, Melbourne, Sarajevo en het Poolse New Horizons. Zaterdag 7 september beleeft de film zijn Noord-Amerikaanse premi\u00e8re op het filmfestival van Toronto. Het langspeelfilmdebuut van Leonardo van Dijl staat ook op de shortlist voor de European Film Awards.<\/p>\n

In ‘Julie Zwijgt’ neemt druk op een getalenteerde jonge tennisster toe wanneer haar coach wordt onderzocht op misbruik van zijn positie.<\/p>\n

Ruth Becquart schreef het scenario samen met Leonardo van Dijl. Op 16 oktober komt de film bij ons in de zalen.<\/p>\n

Vlaamse coproducties<\/strong>
\nBusan International Film Festival erkende nog Vlaams talent met een selectie van ‘Mr. K’ van Tallulah H. Schwab, een Nederlands-Belgisch-Noorse coproductie, voor de Flash Forward-competitie en de Belgisch-Franse coproductie ‘Night Call’ van Michiel Blanchaert binnen de Midnight Passion-categorie.<\/p>\n
