Nadat hij in de jaren 1980 zijn artistieke horizon verbreedde van de concertzaal naar de theatersc\u00e8ne en het witte doek, schreef hij muziek voor bijna veertig films en ontving hij daarvoor talloze prijzen en onderscheidingen, waaronder vier Academy Award nominaties waarvan hij \u00e9\u00e9n verzilverde voor Frida, drie Golden Globe nominaties, inclusief \u00e9\u00e9n winst voor Frida, en drie World Soundtrack Awards. Goldenthal staat bekend om zijn unieke mix van technieken, genres en stijlen en is daardoor een voorbeeld voor toekomstige generaties. Zijn fusie van orkestrale muziek met jazz, rock en elektronische muziek en zijn fijnzinnig gebruik van etnische elementen heeft keer op keer meeslepende soundtracks opgeleverd die hun tijd ver vooruit waren.<\/p>\n<p>Dit album bevat niet alleen een selectie van Goldenthals meest gevierde score voor Julie Taymors &#8216;<strong>Frida<\/strong>&#8216; (2002), die hem een Academy Award voor Best Original Score (en een nominatie voor Best Original Song), een Golden Globe en twee World Soundtrack Awards opleverde, maar presenteert ook twee nooit eerder opgenomen concertsuites. De Grand Gothic Suite bundelt enkele hoogtepunten uit zijn Grammy genomineerde score voor &#8216;<strong>Batman Forever<\/strong>&#8216; (1995) en zijn nooit eerder gepubliceerde score voor &#8216;<strong>Batman &amp; Robin<\/strong>&#8216; (1997). De suite Final Fantasia is dan weer gewijd aan een andere mijlpaal in zijn carri\u00e8re en viert zijn muziek voor &#8216;<strong>Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within<\/strong>&#8216; (2001) van Hironobu Sakaguchi. Op het album staat ook een suite van David Finchers &#8216;<strong>Alien\u00b3<\/strong>&#8216; (1992), zijn ASCAP-award winnende muziek voor Neil Jordans &#8216;<strong>Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles<\/strong>&#8216; (1994) (Academy Award nominatie 1995) en enkele thema&#8217;s uit zijn werk voor Jordans &#8216;<strong>Michael Collins<\/strong>&#8216;(1996) (Academy Award en Golden Globe nominatie 1997). Andere hoogtepunten zijn een thema uit Michael Manns &#8216;<strong>Public Enemies<\/strong>&#8216; (2009) en een fragment uit zijn voor een Satellite Award genomineerde muziek voor &#8216;<strong>Heat<\/strong>&#8216; (1995). Als eerbetoon aan zijn bloeiende samenwerking met regisseur Julie Taymor, Goldenthals levenspartner, sluit het album af met de meeslepende Finale van &#8216;<strong>Titus<\/strong>&#8216; (1999).<\/p>\n<p>Tijdens de 51ste editie van Film Fest Gent in oktober 2024 wordt het album <strong>Elliot Goldenthal: Music for Film<\/strong> uitgebracht, onder licentie van Silva Screen Records. Het is de 19de titel in de reeks jaarlijkse filmmuziekalbums van Film Fest Gent, met nieuwe studio-opnames uitgevoerd door Brussels Philharmonic onder leiding van Dirk Bross\u00e9. Samen geven ze een aantal van &#8217;s werelds grootste scores een leven na de film.
