Tegen alle verwachtingen in klimt Biniam omhoog in het internationale klassement en neemt hij uiteindelijk deel aan Europese wedstrijden. Op 21-jarige leeftijd schrijft hij geschiedenis door als eerste Afrikaan ooit een grote wielerklassieker te winnen (Gent-Wevelgem). Een paar maanden later opnieuw, door een Grand Tour-etappe te winnen in de Giro d&#8217;Italia 2022. Het jaar daarop maakt hij zijn droom zelfs waar en neemt deel aan de Tour de France. Vandaag de dag rijdt hij bij de Belgische World Tour-ploeg Intermarch\u00e9-Wanty-Gobert.
