Zelf groeide ik als tiener op in de stad Gent, waar dankzij deze charismatische, maar evenzeer ook omstreden kunstpaus, de gekste dingen gebeurden. Tarzans kreet weerklonk telkens er een kind werd geboren. Zuilen werden in ham ingepakt tot maden ze omtoverden tot levende zuilen. E\u00e9n hoog, boven een kruispunt, dobberden naakte vrouwen als zeemeerminnen in een glazen bad. Ook op zijn kunstinitiatief Chambre d&#8217;Amis werd massaal door jonge kunstenaars gereageerd met hun versie Antichambres<\/strong><strong>. De stad ademde \u00e9\u00e9n en al kunst. Toen ik recent &#8216;Thank God For The Gift&#8217; zag, leerde ik toch nog immens veel bij over dit illustere personage en zijn schaduwzijde.
