Momenteel staat ze op de set van <\/strong><strong><em>Spirit World<\/em><\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>een fantastische film van de Singaporese cineast<\/strong><strong> Eric Khoo<\/strong> <strong>(<em>Be with <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>M<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>e<\/em><\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong><em>Ramen Shop<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>)<\/em><\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In <em>Spirit World<\/em> speelt de Franse actrice een zangeres die plots overlijdt terwijl ze in Japan op tournee is. Maar haar ziel blijft hangen, en ze wordt een dolende geest. Het project werd verklapt door een onverwachte bron: het stadsbestuur van Takasaki, de Japanse stad waar regisseur Eric Khoo en zijn team onlangs aan de slag zijn gegaan. \u00ab<em>Ik ben verheugd dat een film met Catherine Deneuve in de hoofdrol gedraaid wordt in Takasaki<\/em>\u00bb, wist burgemeester Tomioka Kenji trots te vertellen. Neem het hem eens kwalijk. De film komt eind dit jaar of ten laatste begin 2025 in de zalen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Spirit World<\/em> is trouwens niet het enige buitenlandse uitstapje dat de intussen 80-jarige actrice onlangs heeft gemaakt. Ze is namelijk ook te zien in een Amerikaanse tragikomedie, <em>Funny Birds<\/em>, geproduceerd door niemand minder dan Martin Scorsese. Deneuve zal er te zien zijn aan de zijde van Andrea Riseborough (<em>Birdman<\/em>, <em>Mandy<\/em>) en Morgan Saylor (<em>Homeland<\/em>). Samen spelen de actrices de drie vrouwen die centraal staan in dit intieme familieverhaal. Drie generaties die vervreemd zijn van elkaar maar een laatste kans krijgen om elkaar te leren kennen en te begrijpen.
