De film over een leefgroep voor minderjarige vluchtelingen maakt deel uit van het Luminous-programma\u00a0van IDFA en maakt er kans op de Prijs voor het Beste Debuut.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Louisiana Mees-Fongang<\/strong> won in 2018 de <strong>VAF Wildcard<\/strong> Fictie met haar<strong> KASK<\/strong>-masterfilm\u00a0<em>Waithood<\/em>, \u00a0een korte film over vijf jonge Atheners die in luxueuze Airbnb\u2019s spelen om hun uitzichtloze situatie te ontvluchten, tot hun lot onvermijdelijk boven komt drijven.<\/p>\n<p><em>How Do You Spell Home<\/em>\u00a0is de eerste lange documentaire die\u00a0Mees-Fongang regisseert. De film volgt Keerthana, Mesbah, Helen en Idris, vier pubers uit de leefgroep Juneco. Vanuit Sri Lanka, Eritrea en Afghanistan kwamen ze in Mechelen terecht. Hun emotionele wereld is woelig en onstabiel, maar Juneco vormt voor hen een veilige basis. In de leefgroep leren ze met hulp van begeleidster Julie en psychologe Roselien op eigen benen te staan en zich te integreren.<\/p>\n<p>Louisiana Mees-Fongang regisseerde en verzorgde de fotografie voor de film. Ze schreef ook het scenario, samen met <strong>Wederik De Backer<\/strong>.
