{"id":254905,"date":"2023-10-09T18:46:16","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T16:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/?p=254905"},"modified":"2023-10-09T19:03:03","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T17:03:03","slug":"lukas-dhont-stelt-the-future-five-voor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/nl\/lukas-dhont-stelt-the-future-five-voor\/","title":{"rendered":"Lukas Dhont stelt The Future Five voor!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Rand Abou-Fakher, Cato Kusters, Sarah Lederman, Ammen Simpson Ogedengbe en Pol De Plecker zijn The Future Five, vijf opkomende filmtalenten die vandaag worden voorgesteld aan een honderdtal internationale film- en tv-professionals tijdens CONNEXT in Antwerpen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De gastcurator van deze eerste editie van The Future Five is\u00a0<strong>Lukas Dhont<\/strong>, winnaar van de Grand Prix op het Festival van Cannes in 2022 en dit jaar genomineerd voor de Oscars\u00a0met zijn tweede speelfilm <em>Close.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dhont kreeg de volledige vrijheid voor het samenstellen van The Future Five. Hij koos uiteindelijk voor\u00a0<strong>vijf jonge, getalenteerde filmmakers<\/strong> waarvan de recente kortfilms hem waren bijgebleven. <em>\u201cVoor deze eerste editie van The Future Five heb ik me gefocust op makers, omdat het aanbod anders te overweldigend zou zijn\u201d<\/em>, verklaart Dhont zijn keuze. <em>\u201cIk heb gekozen voor schrijvers en regisseurs die inspireren. De kortfilms van de vijf geselecteerde filmmakers waren heel betekenisvol voor mij. Sommige zag ik op filmfestivals, andere ontdekte ik thuis. Elk van de vijf makers spreekt met een eigen stem en taal.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>De grootste uitdaging voor Dhont\u00a0was het beperken van de selectie tot slechts vijf personen. &#8220;Er is zo\u2019n grote <strong>diversiteit aan filmmakers<\/strong> in Belgi\u00eb. Of ze uit Syri\u00eb of Polen komen of roots in\u00a0Belgi\u00eb hebben, allen cre\u00ebren\u00a0ze unieke dingen. Na het herbekijken van hun films heb ik deze makers geselecteerd omdat erin slagen\u00a0ons onder te dompelen in hun realiteit en omdat ze\u00a0cinema op een andere manier benaderen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ik ben blij dat ik dit moment met deze vijf mensen kan delen en dat ik hun werk door anderen kan laten ontdekken. Ik hoop\u00a0dat ook het publiek de kans krijgt om hun werk te ervaren,&#8221; besluit Dhont.<\/p>\n<p>De voorstelling van The Future Five vond plaats in Antwerpen aan het einde van de <strong>eerste dag van CONNEXT<\/strong>. De vijf geselecteerde filmmakers en curator Lukas Dhont werden er ge\u00efnterviewd door Louise Tutt, adjunct-hoofdredacteur voor Screen International.<\/p>\n<p>The Future Five is een initiatief van CONNEXT, de jaarlijkse showcase van Vlaamse content en talent die sinds 2016 door <strong>Flanders Image<\/strong> wordt georganiseerd. CONNEXT staat voor \u2018Connect to What&#8217;s New and Who&#8217;s Next\u2019. Lukas Dhont is een vaste waarde op het evenement.\u00a0De eerste beelden van zijn beide speelfilms, <em>Girl<\/em> en <em>Close<\/em>, werden op CONNEXT\u00a0onthuld.<\/p>\n<p>Met veel trots kunnen we trouwens bij Cinevox zeggen dat we deze &#8216;Young Talents&#8217; ook al een tijdje volgen.
