Cathalina Geeraerts, de 17-jarige actrice die in ‘Holly’ van Fien Troch\u00a0de hoofdrol speelt, heeft de Bisato d’Oro\u00a0Award gewonnen voor beste acteerprestatie op de 80e editie van het filmfestival in Veneti\u00eb. De prijs werd uitgereikt door een jury van onafhankelijke filmjournalisten. Op 10 oktober 2023 zal Holly zijn\u00a0Belgische premi\u00e8re beleven op Film Fest Gent en komt daarna uit in de Belgische zalen op 22 november 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n

De prijsuitreiking vond vandaag plaats op het Lido in Veneti\u00eb in aanwezigheid van de\u00a0jury, bestaande uit Paolo De Cesare (voorzitter), Violeta Bava, R\u00fcdiger Suchsland, Maria Giovanna Vagena en\u00a0Erfan Rashid. De jury verkondigde dat\u00a0“Cathalina\u00a0debuteert\u00a0in een geweldige\u00a0langspeelfilm, waarin ze\u00a0\u00a0haar personage ingetogen vertolkt\u00a0en\u00a0ons aanspoort om\u00a0haar niet langer als kind te zien, maar als een grote actrice.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Trochs vijfde langspeelfilm werd gisterenavond\u00a0op het prestigieuze\u00a0festival bovendien\u00a0erg goed ontvangen met lovende reviews in de internationale pers.\u00a0Variety-criticus had het over “de uitstekende vertolking\u00a0van Geeraerts” <\/em>en Wendy Ide van\u00a0Screen International prees dan weer de “het mysterieuze verhaal\u00a0en\u00a0breekbare weergeving\u00a0<\/em>van de jonge actrice”<\/em>.\u00a0Fien Troch zelf krijgt uit diverse hoek lof voor\u00a0“de spannende en indrukwekkende\u00a0Belgische\u00a0parel in de hoofdcompetitie.”<\/em><\/p>\n

In de vijfde langspeelfilm van Fien Troch volgen we Holly, een 15 jarig meisje. Nadat ze een dodelijke schoolbrand lijkt voorspeld te hebben zijn alle ogen op haar gericht. Lerares Anna is ge\u00efntrigeerd door het vreemde voorgevoel van Holly en nodigt haar uit om aan vrijwilligerswerk te doen in de rouwende gemeenschap. Overal waar ze komt geeft Holly rust, warmte en hoop aan wie ze ontmoet. Maar al snel beginnen mensen haar speciale gave op te zoeken en wordt er steeds meer van Holly ge\u00ebist.<\/p>\n

De cast van de\u00a0film bestaat uit nieuwkomers\u00a0Cathalina Geeraerts\u00a0<\/strong>en\u00a0Felix Heremans\u00a0alsook\u00a0Greet Verstraete<\/strong>\u00a0(‘Beau S\u00e9jour\u2019),\u00a0Els Deceukelier<\/strong>\u00a0(\u2018Home\u2019, ‘Filles de Joie’),\u00a0Serdi Faki Alici<\/strong>\u00a0(\u2018Zonder Afspraak\u2019, ’13 geboden’),\u00a0Robbie Cleiren\u00a0<\/strong>(‘Blackout’)spelen ook een rol in de film.\u00a0Frank van den Eeden\u00a0<\/strong>(‘Close’ en\u00a0‘Home’) is\u00a0de\u00a0Director of Photography,\u00a0Nico Leunen\u00a0<\/strong>(‘De\u00a0Acht Bergen’ en\u00a0‘Home’) stond in voor\u00a0de montage en\u00a0Johnny Jewel\u00a0<\/strong>(\u2018Drive\u2019 en \u2018Home\u2019) componeerde de muziek.<\/p>\n

\u2018Holly\u2019 is een productie van Antonio Lombardo voor Prime Time en Elisa Heene voor Mirage in coproductie met Les Films Du Fleuve, Tarantula, Topkapi, Tabiki en Agat Films. De film kon reken op de steun van het VAF\/Filmfonds van Vlaams minister van Cultuur Jan Jambon, Centre du cin\u00e9ma et de l\u2019audiovisuel de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Wallonie-Bruxelles, het Nederlands Filmfonds en Netherlands Production Incentive, Luxemburg Film Fund, Streamz, VOO Be TV\u00a0en werd mede mogelijk gemaakt door Casa Kafka dat instond voor de financiering via de Belgische Tax Shelter maatregel. Gevestigde sales agent mk2 films vertegenwoordigt de internationale rechten en Cin\u00e9art zal de film in de Benelux uitbrengen.<\/p>\n
