Woensdag 13 september verschijnt LUKA<\/em>, geschreven en geregisseerd door <\/strong>Jessica Woodworth,\u00a0<\/strong>de winnares van de Leeuw van Veneti\u00eb, en ge\u00efnspireerd op\u00a0Dino Buzzati’s roman ‘Il deserto dei Tartari’ in de Belgische bioscoopzalen.<\/strong><\/p>\n

LUKA<\/em> is een aangrijpend audiovisueel hoogstandje in zwart-wit dat zich afspeelt op verbluffende Siciliaanse locaties en met in de hoofdrollen Berlinale ‘Shooting Star’ Jonas Smulders, Geraldine Chaplin<\/strong> en Jan Bijvoet<\/strong>. LUKA<\/em> is ge\u00efnspireerd op het boek De woestijn van de Tartaren<\/em> (1940) van de invloedrijke Italiaanse romanschrijver Dino Buzzati. In de film volgen we de jonge soldaat Luka die zich door een desolaat, postapocalyptisch landschap worstelt op zoek naar het legendarische Fort Kairos. Nadat hij zijn zware tocht ternauwernood overleeft, ontdekt hij dat Kairos geen legende is. Het is een vervallen, disfunctioneel oord en wordt beheerst door een commando van excentriekelingen. Langzaam raakt Luka in de ban van dit bastion van absurditeit. Hij ontdekt al snel de waarheid, dat niemand ooit de vijand heeft gezien. Luka slaat zich door de dagen heen, totdat hij de moed vindt om de illusie te doorbreken.<\/p>\n
