De film is vanaf 12 april te zien in de zalen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regisseur<strong> Sahim Omar Kalifa<\/strong> schitterde met de volledige cast op de rode loper van <strong>FFO<\/strong>. <strong>Ahmed Mohammed Abdullah<\/strong>, nog maar 12 jaar, speelt de hoofdrol in de film. De cast bestaat verder nog uit <strong>Atheer Adel<\/strong>, <strong>Zahraa Ghandour<\/strong> en <strong>Safa Najem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Het is niet de eerste keer dat Kalifa met Atheer Adel werkt, de regisseur maakte namelijk al in 2009 een kortfilm met dezelfde naam en hetzelfde thema. Deze won 60 (!) internationale awards en werd zelfs genomineerd voor een<strong> Oscar in de categorie beste korte speelfilm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Opvallend is ook dat de langspeelfilm volledig in Irak is opgenomen. Hiervoor werkte Kalifa samen met <strong>A Team Productions<\/strong>, het productiehuis dat ook meewerkte aan onder andere <em>Patser <\/em>(2018)\u00a0en <em>Torpedo <\/em>(2019). Producent <strong>Kobe Van Steenberghe<\/strong> werkte ook mee aan het scenario.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-249181 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/welovecinema.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/02\/1024101_fr_baghdad_messi_1673526040121-1-189x270.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"828\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Het verhaal gaat over\u00a0Hamoudi, een jongen van 11 jaar die diep gepassioneerd is door voetbal. Zijn droom is om op hetzelfde niveau te spelen als zijn grote idool <strong>Messi<\/strong>. Wanneer hij plots zwaargewond wakker wordt in het ziekenhuis, krijgt hij het nieuws te horen dat hij zijn been verloren heeft in een aanslag.
