Agenda\u2019s in de aanslag, want van 11 tot 23 april is het Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival terug! Op het menu: 4 wereldpremi\u00e8res, 6 internationale premi\u00e8res en 10 Europese premi\u00e8res onder de 72 gepresenteerde speelfilms. Een Smerige Ettertjes -thema, een Spaanse focus met star guest Juan Antonio Bayona, een gratis Vampierenbal en enkele monsterlijke previews!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Het BIFFF draagt de jongere generaties na aan het hart. Voor zijn 41ste editie<\/strong> zet het festival hen dan ook extra in het licht met een thematische sectie, gedoopt Smerige Ettertjes<\/em>. Doorheen de filmgeschiedenis worden kinderen beschouwd als eeuwige slachtoffertjes, toch bewijst dit programma dat kinderen ook genadeloze beulen kunnen zijn.<\/p>\n

Van Wrath of Becky<\/em> tot Kids vs. Aliens<\/em>, via The Prank<\/em>\u00a0of de Belgische coproductie<\/strong> Wolfkin<\/em>, gidsen een twintigtal films jullie doorheen ons BIFFF DreamLand 2023<\/strong>. Daaronder valt ook de legendarische traantjeslater uit 2016, A Monster Calls<\/em>\u00a0van regisseur Juan Antonio Bayona<\/strong> (The Orphanage, The Impossible, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom)<\/em>, die tevens\u00a0star guest<\/strong>\u00a0is van deze editie.<\/p>\n

Niet toevallig rolt het BIFFF dit jaar ook de rode loper uit voor een Spaanse Focus<\/strong> met negen fonkelende pareltjes, waaronder de nieuwste Alex de la Iglesia<\/strong> (Four’s A Crowd),<\/em> Bayona<\/strong>\u2019s A Monster Calls<\/em> en Ferocious Wolf<\/em> , remake van het Isra\u00eblische Big Bad Wolve<\/em>s – \u201cBeste film van 2013\u201d, dixit Tarantino<\/strong> – maar ook een extreem straffe selectie kortfilms onder de noemer Spainkillers<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Naast de gewoonlijke cultslasherzombiekomediedramathrillers<\/strong> staan er ook enkele blockbusters<\/strong> op het programma, zoals\u00a0The Pope’s Exorcist<\/em>\u00a0(dat deel uitmaakt van de \u201cBorn After Armageddon\u201d-dag waarop alle films gratis zijn voor jongeren tussen 16-25 jaar),\u00a0Evil Dead Rise<\/em>\u00a0(exact 30 jaar na de triomf van Army Of Darkness<\/em> op het BIFFF),\u00a0Infiniti Pool,\u00a0Sisu<\/em>\u00a0en\u00a0Renfield<\/em>\u00a0– die het allereerste volledig gratis Vampierenbal<\/strong> onder de doopvont mag houden.<\/p>\n

In 1983 bevatte de selectie een bovengemiddeld hoog aantal cultfilms<\/strong> zoals Le Dernier Combat, The Dark Crystal<\/em> en Evil Dead<\/em>. In 1993 waren dat o.a. Army<\/em> Of Darkness<\/em>, Braindead<\/em> en Resevoir Dogs<\/em>. In 2003, Bubba Ho-Tep, Cabin Fever<\/em> en The Grudge<\/em>. In 2013, Mama<\/em>, Oblivion<\/em> en Ghost Graduation<\/em>\u2026 Alsof, om de 10 jaar, een uitzonderlijk programma uit het graf opstaat. Is dit ook het geval voor 2023? Enkel de geschiedenis zal het ons zeggen…<\/p>\n
