Het aangrijpende drama over een Mexicaanse moeder wier dochter ontvoerd wordt door een drugskartel ging in wereldpremi\u00e8re op het<strong> filmfestival van Cannes<\/strong>, waar hij de <strong>Prix du Courage<\/strong> won. Wanneer de autoriteiten er maar niet in slagen het onderzoek op te lossen, besluit Cielo het heft in eigen handen te nemen. Ze begint haar eigen onderzoek en wint het vertrouwen van Lamarque, een soldaat die nogal eens buiten de lijntjes durft kleuren. Hij stemt ermee in haar te helpen bij haar zoektocht aangezien de informatie van Cielo nuttig kan zijn voor zijn eigen missies. Door de samenwerking zal Cielo in een vicieuze cirkel van geweld terechtkomen. Gebaseerd op op waargebeurde feiten.<\/p>\n<p><em>La Civil <\/em>is een productie van <strong>Hans Everaert<\/strong> voor het Antwerpse productiehuis <strong>Menuetto<\/strong>, in coproductie met <strong>Les Films du Fleuve<\/strong> van <strong>de gebroeders Dardenne<\/strong>, het Roemeense Mobra Films van Gouden Palm-winnaar Cristian Mungiu en het Mexicaanse Teorema van filmmaker Michel Franco. Achter de schermen werkten o.a.
