Het Engelstalige debuut van Robin Pront doet het erg goed aan de Amerikaanse box-office.\u00a0The Silencing<\/em>, met Game Of Thrones<\/em>-acteur Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in de hoofdrol, was afgelopen week de meest succesvolle release.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Silencing<\/em>\u00a0van de\u00a0D\u2019Ardennen<\/em>-regisseur blijkt een hit in de Verenigde Staten, zowel in de bioscoop als op video-on-demand.\u00a0Tijdens het openingsweekend werd de film op 79 bioscoopschermen verdeeld, waar hij 53.205 dollar opbracht (zo\u2019n 45.000 euro).<\/p>\n

Tegelijk kwam hij ook uit op de VOD-platformen Apple TV en FandangoNo, waar het vorige week de beste gehuurde film was in Amerika. Hij bracht daar al meer dan 5 miljoen dollar op.<\/p>\n

De film doet het goed, volgens Amerikaans distributeur Bill Bromiley,\u00a0omdat de mensen snakken naar nieuwe releases. Door de film ook al 30 dagen voor de release exclusief aan te bieden via het platform DirectTV, werd hij een beetje een hype.\u00a0Bromiley zegt dat de film daardoor als een evenement aanvoelde en dat helpt de business alleen maar volgens hem.<\/p>\n

Aangezien de blockbusters uitgesteld worden door de coronacrisis, is het moeilijk om het werkelijke succes van een film in te schatten. Veel films slaan zelfs de bioscoopzalen helemaal over en gaan rechtstreeks naar video-on-demand. Toch noemt Variety\u00a0The Silencing<\/em>\u00a0een succes, hij deed het namelijk\u00a0beter dan The Outpost<\/em> met Orlando Bloom en The Tax Collector<\/em> met Shia LaBeouf.<\/p>\n

Ondertussen zijn de opnames van Zillion<\/em>, de nieuwe film van Pront, nog steeds uitgesteld door corona. De regisseur blikte wel net een kortfilm in met Matthias Schoenaerts en Veerle Baetens voor de\u00a0Lockdown-reeks.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0En\u00a0De Bende Van Jan De Lichte, <\/em>de reeks die hij samen met Maarten Moerkerke regisseerde,\u00a0<\/em>zal binnenkort te zien zijn op Streamz.<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
