De Vlaamse middellange animatiefilm\u00a0<\/strong>Ce magnifique g\u00e2teau!<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0van Emma de Swaef en Marc James Roels heeft vanavond de Prijs voor Beste Regie gewonnen op de European Animation Awards. Twee coproducties met Vlaanderen,\u00a0<\/strong>Another Day of Life<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0en\u00a0<\/strong>Funan<\/strong><\/em>, werden in totaal met drie prijzen bekroond.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0De European Animation Awards, ook bekend als de Emile Awards, werden in 2017 voor de eerst maal uitgereikt. Zoals vorig jaar vond de ceremonie plaats in het Noord-Franse Rijsel. Met onderscheidingen in 18 categorie\u00ebn vormen de Emile Awards een bekroning voor de Europese animatiesector. Vlaamse producties en coproducties waren dit jaar goed voor 13 van de in totaal 90 nominaties, een uitzonderlijk hoog aantal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uiteindelijk konden er vier nominaties worden verzilverd met prijzen in volgende categorie\u00ebn: Beste Regie voor een Korte Animatiefilm (Ce magnifique g\u00e2teau!<\/em>), Beste Scenario voor een Speelfilm (Funan<\/em>), Beste Sound Design voor een Speelfilm (Funan<\/em>) en Beste Soundtrack (Another Day of Life<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce Magnifique G\u00e2teau!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce magnifique g\u00e2teau!<\/em>\u00a0is een middellange stop-motionanimatiefilm van het Gentse animatieduo Emma de Swaef en Marc James Roels. De film vertelt het verhaal van vijf personages in het koloniale Afrika aan het eind van de 19e eeuw. Voor de opnames brachten de makers maar liefst acht maanden door in de animatiestudio van Beast Animation. Voor de stemmencast deden ze onder andere beroep op Jan Decleir, Wim Willaert, Goua Grovogui en Gaston Motambe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce magnifique g\u00e2teau!<\/em>\u00a0ging in mei in wereldpremi\u00e8re in Cannes, als onderdeel van de Quinzaine des R\u00e9alisateurs. In juni werd de film bekroond met de Prix Andr\u00e9-Martin op het Internationaal Animatiefilmfestival van Annecy en nadien volgden tientallen internationale selecties en een handvol filmprijzen, waaronder de Grote Prijs voor Beste Film op het Animafest in Zagreb en de Publieksprijs op het Kortfilmfestival in het Portugese Vila do Conde. Eerder deze week raakte bekend dat\u00a0Ce magnifique g\u00e2teau!<\/em>\u00a0ook genomineerd is voor de Annie Awards, de belangrijkste animatie-onderscheidingen in de Verenigde Staten.\u00a0Ce magnifique g\u00e2teau!<\/em>\u00a0werd geproduceerd door Beast Animation in coproductie met Vivement Lundi!, Pedri Animation en ARTE France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Day of Life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Day of Life<\/em>\u00a0is een hybride documentaire van Ra\u00fal de la Fuente en Damian Nenow waarin archiefbeelden worden vermengd met animatie- en\u00a0live action<\/em>-elementen. De film vertelt het verhaal van een reis die journalist Ryszard Kapu\u015bci\u0144ski in 1975 maakte in Angola. De Poolse sterreporter bracht drie maanden lang dagelijks verslag uit van de grimmige onafhankelijkheidsstrijd die volgde op de Angolese Anjerrevolutie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Day of Life<\/em> ging in wereldpremi\u00e8re op het Festival van Cannes en werd de voorbije maanden vertoond op toonaangevende festivals als Helsinki, Kopenhagen, Annecy en San Sebasti\u00e1n. De film is ook genomineerd voor de Animated Feature-categorie van de European Film Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Day of Life<\/em>\u00a0is een Pools-Spaans-Belgische coproductie. De Vlaamse coproducent is Walking The Dog. De productiemaatschappij en animatiestudio van Eric Goossens en Anton Roebben was betrokken bij de basisstructuur van de film en zorgde voor een groot deel van de technische totstandkoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funan<\/em>, een Belgisch-Frans-Luxemburgs-Cambodjaanse coproductie met Lunanime als Vlaamse partner, is een animatiespeelfilm van Denis Do over een jong gezin in Cambodja dat uit elkaar wordt gerukt door de troepen van Pol Pot tijdens de brutale inval van de Rode Khmer in 1975.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0De film werd in juni bekroond met de Cristal du Long M\u00e9trage, de hoofdprijs in de speelfilmcategorie op het Internationaal Animatiefilmfestival van Annecy.
