‘La Mis\u00e9ricorde de la jungle’<\/em>\u00a0van de Rwandese regisseur Jo\u00ebl Karekezi, geproduceerd in Belgi\u00eb door N\u00e9on Rouge, gaat in wereldpremi\u00e8re op het Festival van Toronto. \u00a0De film zal er vertoond worden in de sectie Discovery.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Het verhaal situeert zich in 1998 in de regio Kivu, op de grens tussen Congo en Rwanda. \u00a0Daar verliezen bij het uitbreken van de tweede Congolese oorlog sergeant Xavier en de jonge soldaat Faustin elk spoor van hun bataljon. Volledig ge\u00efsoleerd, zonder levensmiddelen, bevinden ze zich in de meest uitgestrekte, dichtste en meest vijandige jungle van het Afrikaanse continent. Honger, dorst en ziekte zijn maar enkele van de beproevingen, want er is ook het geweld waarmee ze af te rekenen krijgen.<\/p>\n

In \u00e9\u00e9n van de hoofdrollen zien we de Belgische acteur Marc Zinga<\/strong>, die sinds zijn doorbraak in ‘Les rayures du z\u00e8bre’<\/em>, de mooie rollen aaneenrijgt. \u00a0Hij zat ondermeer in ‘Dheepan’<\/em> van\u00a0Jacques Audiard<\/strong> en in de James Bond-film ‘Spectre’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

De film is een Belgisch-Frans-Duitse coproductie. \u00a0Tact Production zorgde voor het Franse aandeel, Perfect Shot Film voor de Duitse inbreng en in Belgi\u00eb was het \u00a0Aur\u00e9lien Bodinaux<\/strong> voor N\u00e9on Rouge Production die de film ondersteunde. Diezelfde Bodinaux schreef samen met regisseur Karekezi en de Amerikaan Casey Schroen het scenario voor de film.<\/p>\n

En zo is er dit jaar wel een zeer uitgebreide delegatie in Toronto. Naast ‘Engel’<\/em> <\/a>van Koen Mortier<\/strong>, ‘Kursk’<\/a><\/em> met Matthias Schoenaerts<\/strong>, ‘Duelles’<\/em> <\/a>met Veerle Baetens<\/strong>, ‘Ce magnifique g\u00e2teau!’<\/em><\/a> van Emma De Swaef<\/strong> en Marc James Roels<\/strong> \u00a0en ‘Au temps o\u00f9 les Arabes dansaient’<\/em><\/a> van Jawad Rhalib<\/strong>, waarin tal van landgenoten te zien zijn, mag ook ‘Girl’<\/em><\/a> van Lukas Dhont<\/strong> naar Toronto.<\/p>\n
