Avec cet anti-biopic r\u00e9solument punk, la cin\u00e9aste nous fait entrer dans la t\u00eate de M\u00e8re Teresa le temps d\u2019une poign\u00e9e de jours, alors qu\u2019elle l\u00e8ve les derniers doutes qui l\u2019emp\u00eachent de mener \u00e0 bien son ambition la plus folle: cr\u00e9er les Missionnaires de la charit\u00e9<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Oubliez d\u2019embl\u00e9e tous les attributs habituellement accol\u00e9s \u00e0 la figure de la sainte. La Teresa de Teona Strugar Mitevska est d\u2019abord une femme, vaillante, volontaire, born\u00e9e, aimante, dure, vive, travaill\u00e9e par son ambition tout autant que par sa foi. La cin\u00e9aste bouscule avec autorit\u00e9 l\u2019image d\u2019Epinal de cette star de la chr\u00e9tient\u00e9 pour en faire une ic\u00f4ne punk, non pas moderne, mais intemporelle dans sa puissance et sa d\u00e9termination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On attrape Teresa au vol un jour de 1948, \u00e0 Calcutta, Inde, alors qu\u2019elle esp\u00e8re fi\u00e9vreusement des nouvelles du Vatican: elle attend qu\u2019on lui donne l\u2019autorisation de quitter les Soeurs de Lorette pour fonder son propre ordre &#8211; qui deviendra les Missionnaires de la Charit\u00e9. Cette semaine cruciale voit donc Teresa devenir irr\u00e9m\u00e9diablement elle-m\u00eame, et poser les bases de son engagement fait d\u2019amour de son prochain, de d\u00e9nuement, et d\u2019une foi in\u00e9branlable en l\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9 entre les humains. Mais pour ce faire elle devra traverser une ultime \u00e9preuve: sa fid\u00e8le soeur Agnieszka, en laquelle elle voyait une successeure pour reprendre les r\u00eanes de la congr\u00e9gation, est enceinte. Alors qu\u2019elle voudrait se lib\u00e9rer de cette charge, Teresa s\u2019oppose frontalement \u00e0 tout avortement, quitte \u00e0 mettre un frein \u00e0 ses propres ambitions &#8211; et \u00e0 renier son voeu d\u2019aider son prochain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Mais la r\u00e9action de Teresa vis-\u00e0-vis de l\u2019avortement, fruit de son \u00e9poque, n\u2019est pas le sujet du film. Son sujet, c\u2019est le questionnement de Teresa, sa force de caract\u00e8re, son combat intime pour trouver la ressources de surmonter l\u2019adversit\u00e9 aussi bien externe qu\u2019interne. Le portrait s\u2019approche en ce sens du \u00ab flux de conscience \u00bb en litt\u00e9rature, on est en cam\u00e9ra embarqu\u00e9e au plus pr\u00e8s de ses doutes, ses h\u00e9sitations, on mesure sa conviction et ses renoncements. A l\u2019\u00e9cran, on est tout \u00e0 la fois sur elle, son visage, et devant elle, dans des plans tr\u00e8s graphiques, avec les autres soeurs, dans le couvent, ou quand elle r\u00e9arrange de fa\u00e7on presque n\u00e9vrotique les meubles de sa chambre, auxquels elle se fait un devoir de ne pas s\u2019attacher, refusant toute id\u00e9e de propri\u00e9t\u00e9.
