Avec La Mer au loin<\/em>, Sa\u00efd Hamich Benlarbi livre un m\u00e9lodrame m\u00e9lancolique et bouleversant sur l’exil et les sentiments, et pose une question aussi lancinante qu’existentielle: comment aimer quand notre coeur est rest\u00e9 au pays?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rep\u00e9r\u00e9 avec son premier long m\u00e9trage Retour \u00e0 Boll\u00e8ne<\/em> sorti en 2017, Sa\u00efd Hamich Benlarbi pr\u00e9sentait l’ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re \u00e0 la Semaine de la Critique de Cannes son tr\u00e8s beau deuxi\u00e8me film, La Mer au loin<\/em>, avec Ayoub Gretaa, Anna Mouglalis et Gr\u00e9goire Colin. L’histoire de Nour qui a quitt\u00e9 son pays pour \u00e9migrer clandestinement \u00e0 Marseille. Avec ses amis, il vit de petits trafics et m\u00e8ne une vie marginale et festive\u2026 Mais sa rencontre avec Serge, un flic charismatique et impr\u00e9visible, et sa femme No\u00e9mie, va bouleverser son existence. De 1990 \u00e0 2000, Nour aime, vieillit et se raccroche \u00e0 ses r\u00eaves.<\/p>\n

Le cin\u00e9aste livre une fresque dont l’ampleur romanesque reste en m\u00e9moire, et o\u00f9 la musique ra\u00ef, qui accompagne les atermoiements des personnages, r\u00e9sonne plus que jamais comme la bande-son d’une \u00e9poque, qui incarne de fa\u00e7on incandescente la joie de la f\u00eate comme la m\u00e9lancolie de l’exil. Cette musique est comme un morceau du pays, un morceau de l’histoire de Nour qu’il emporte partout avec lui. Le film se d\u00e9ploie au fil de quatre chapitres et un \u00e9pilogue. On commence avec Nour, qui d\u00e9barque dans une France frontalement raciste. Son quotidien est fait de d\u00e9brouille, de petits d\u00e9lits et de descentes de flics, mais ce n’est pas l’objet du film, qui s’attarde sur la confusion des sentiments. Ceux de Nour, qui d\u00e9couvre une nouvelle vie, ceux de Khaled, qui accepte un mariage blanc pour \u00eatre r\u00e9gularis\u00e9, de Fadela, qui renonce au grand amour.<\/p>\n

Le destin de Nour se m\u00eale au hasard des rencontres \u00e0 celui de Serge et sa femme No\u00e9mie, couple atypique, pr\u00eat \u00e0 trouver son bonheur hors des sentiers battus, et \u00e0 \u00e9prouver la libert\u00e9 qu’ils s’offrent mutuellement. Les ann\u00e9es 90 sont aussi celles du SIDA, cette menace qui plane, o\u00f9 la vie n’en est v\u00e9cue que plus intens\u00e9ment. Au-del\u00e0 de la perte et de la tristesse, No\u00e9mie et Nour s’inventent une route en commun. La grande force de La Mer au loin,<\/em> et sa belle singularit\u00e9, c’est d’aborder la question de l’immigration \u00e0 travers le prisme de l’exil, en se focalisant non pas sur les donn\u00e9es pratiques de l’existence, auxquelles on cantonne souvent ces personnages (travail, papier, l\u00e9galit\u00e9), mais plut\u00f4t sur les destin\u00e9es sentimentales de ses protagonistes, un point de vue que l’on n’a peu trop peu vu au cin\u00e9ma, o\u00f9 les hommes arabes sont rarement montr\u00e9s pour leurs \u00e9motions, leurs joies et leurs peines, l’amour et le chagrin. Ayoub Gretaa livre une performance magn\u00e9tique dans le r\u00f4le de Nour, et Anna Mouglalis et Gr\u00e9goire Colin offrent une belle densit\u00e9 \u00e0 leur personnage.<\/p>\n
