Na onder meer de gangsterfilm <em>Little Odessa<\/em>, het drama <em>The Immigrant<\/em> en de sciencefictionfilm <em>Ad Astra<\/em> waagt de Amerikaanse regisseur zich nu aan een \u2018murder mystery\u2019. Dat krijgt de titel<\/strong> <strong><em>Kill Your Darlings<\/em><\/strong> <strong>en zal zich baseren op de gelijknamige roman van<\/strong> <strong>Peter Swanson.<\/strong><strong> En Julia Roberts zal erin meespelen!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We zullen wel wat geduld moeten oefenen voor we <em>Kill Your Darlings<\/em> in de zalen krijgen, want Gray wil eerst nog een ander project afwerken. Ook dat wordt een thriller, <em>Paper Tiger<\/em>, met hoofdrollen voor Anne Hathaway en Jeremy Strong (een duo dat Gray eerder al voor de camera haalde in <em>Armageddon Time<\/em>) en Adam Driver.<\/p>\n<p>Daarna is het dus de beurt aan <em>Kill Your Darlings<\/em>, een moordverhaal met een originele insteek: het wordt achterstevoren verteld. Centraal staat een getrouwd koppel, Tom en Wendy Graves, dat op het eerste gezicht een perfect leven heeft. Onder dat smetteloze oppervlak verbergen ze echter een donker geheim.<\/p>\n<p><em>Kill Your Darlings<\/em> keert vervolgens terug in de tijd en toont de sleutelmomenten uit het leven van het echtpaar, zoals hun vijftigste verjaardag, de dag dat ze hun huis kochten, de geboorte van hun zoon Jason&#8230; Beetje bij beetje ontdek je dat hun gelukkige huwelijk eigenlijk een illusie is, gebouwd op een vreselijke misdaad die ze jaren geleden met zijn twee\u00ebn op touw hebben gezet.<\/p>\n<p>De film komt normaal gezien in 2027 in de zalen (we zeiden het al: nog even geduld oefenen).
