Leonardo van Dijl d\u00e9fend en Comp\u00e9tition \u00e0 la Semaine de la Critique son premier long m\u00e9trage, <em>Julie zwijgt<\/em>. Ce n&rsquo;est pas la premi\u00e8re fois que le Festival met en lumi\u00e8re son travail, puisqu&rsquo;en 2020, ann\u00e9e Covid, son court m\u00e9trage St\u00e9phanie, portrait d\u00e9j\u00e0 d&rsquo;une jeune sportive, une gymnaste en l&rsquo;occurence, faisait partie de la S\u00e9lection officielle mise sur pied malgr\u00e9 l&rsquo;absence de festival en pr\u00e9sentiel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Il revient avec <i>Julie <em>zwijgt<\/em><\/i>, portrait intime et d\u00e9licat d\u2019une jeune sportive accul\u00e9e par la complexit\u00e9 des enjeux de domination que l&rsquo;on peut trouver dans le sport de haut niveau, et qui fait de prime abord le choix du silence. Il faut un temps pour tout&#8230; Pour les autres, le silence de Julie cache forc\u00e9ment un secret. Quand son entra\u00eeneur est suspendu puis tr\u00e8s vite d\u00e9mis de ses fonctions suite au suicide d\u2019une jeune joueuse, tout le club est appel\u00e9 \u00e0 t\u00e9moigner, pour essayer de comprendre. Mais Julie d\u00e9cide de se taire\u2026 Alors on s\u2019interroge sur son silence. Malgr\u00e9 elle, on \u00e9crit son histoire, on l\u2019imagine, la fantasme, la redoute. Son mutisme laisse place \u00e0 toutes les interpr\u00e9tations alors qu\u2019elle s\u2019en sert pour pr\u00e9server les forces qu\u2019elle souhaite consacrer \u00e0 son jeu, et seulement son jeu. Son \u00e9nergie, elle la r\u00e9serve \u00e0 ses seules ambitions, tant que l\u2019orage gronde, que les conditions ne sont pas r\u00e9unies pour accueillir une possible parole. Le tumulte assourdissant des rumeurs qui bruissent semble la laisser indiff\u00e9rente, concentr\u00e9e sur une blessure enfin cicatris\u00e9e, un corps qu\u2019elle parvient \u00e0 dompter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Le film d\u00e9bute sur un plan fixe, Julie \u00e0 l\u2019entra\u00eenement entre et sort du champ, avec en fond sonore la raquette qui tape la balle, et les bruits blancs du gymnase, sous ses lumi\u00e8res artificielles qui lui conf\u00e8rent une aura cr\u00e9pusculaire. Toute la premi\u00e8re partie, en \u00e9cho au silence de Julie, se passe dans une sorte de clair-obscur, des zones de gris cr\u00e9\u00e9es par les rideaux tir\u00e9s, les aubes et les d\u00e9buts de soir\u00e9es qui rythment son quotidien. La lumi\u00e8re (sign\u00e9e par le chef op\u00e9rateur Nicolas Karakatsanis, qui a travaill\u00e9 notamment sur <i>I, Tonya, Hellhole<\/i> de Bas Devos ou <i>Bullhead<\/i> de Michael Roskam, ou r\u00e9cemment <em>Skunk<\/em> de Koen Mortier) comme le silence est feutr\u00e9e. Mais \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence fant\u00f4me de l\u2019ancien entra\u00eeneur r\u00e9pond peu \u00e0 peu celle plus solaire du nouvel entraineur, qui se positionnant \u00e0 la juste distance, permet \u00e0 Julie de d\u00e9ployer les moyens de trouver son jeu, et sa v\u00e9rit\u00e9. Il entre \u00e0 ce titre dans une conversation soci\u00e9tale passionnante, mais vaut aussi pour lui-m\u00eame, pour son habilet\u00e9 sc\u00e9naristique, la qualit\u00e9 de sa direction artistique, et last but not least, l\u2019impressionnante prestation de Tessa Van den Broeck, jeune joueuse de tennis dont c\u2019est le premier r\u00f4le, et qui nous invite avec myst\u00e8re et opini\u00e2tret\u00e9 \u00e0 entendre et respecter le silence de Julie, pour mieux l\u2019exorciser. A ses c\u00f4t\u00e9s, on retiendra les prestations notamment dans le r\u00f4le de ses parents, attentifs et luttant pour rester \u00e0 la juste distance Koen de Bouw, et Ruth Becquart, qui a co-\u00e9crit le d\u00e9licat sc\u00e9nario avec Leonardo van Dijl.
