Le Festival Premiers Plans d’Angers rendra hommage \u00e0 Chantal Akerman \u00e0 l’occasion de sa prochaine \u00e9dition, en remontrant ses films fondateurs et ses chefs-d’oeuvre en copies restaur\u00e9es. Le Festival s’associe au Forum des Images (Paris) et \u00e0 La Cinetek pour c\u00e9l\u00e9brer online et dans la vraie vie la cin\u00e9aste belge. Les projections sur grand \u00e9cran auront lieu du 27 au 31 janvier et sur la Cinetek du 25 janvier au 24 f\u00e9vrier.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chantal Akerman l\u2019a dit et redit : sa vocation pour le cin\u00e9ma na\u00eet suite \u00e0 sa d\u00e9couverte, adolescente, de\u00a0Pierrot le fou<\/em>. Elle comprend brusquement qu\u2019il est possible de faire un autre cin\u00e9ma que celui de l\u2019industrie et \u2014 \u00e2g\u00e9e d\u2019\u00e0 peine 18 ans \u2014 elle se lance. C\u2019est\u00a0Saute ma ville<\/em>, un court m\u00e9trage semi professionnel dans lequel d\u00e9j\u00e0 : 1) elle se filme, 2) dans la cuisine de sa m\u00e8re, 3) jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la mort. Dire que ce petit film est proph\u00e9tique n\u2019est pas une exag\u00e9ration. Puis, il y a un passage par New-York qui fonctionne comme une \u00e9ducation esth\u00e9tique. Elle rencontre Babette Mangolte, qui deviendra sa chef-op\u00e9ratrice, et d\u00e9couvre le travail du cin\u00e9aste exp\u00e9rimental Michael Snow dont elle retient l\u2019extr\u00eame concentration des plans longs malgr\u00e9 l\u2019absence d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e8nement.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0R\u00e9guli\u00e8rement, Chantal\u00a0Akerman nous \u00e9crivait. Elle mettait son adresse au dos de l\u2019enveloppe (Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles<\/em> – 1975), elle signait (Je, tu, il, elle<\/em> – 1974), elle donnait de ses nouvelles en anglais (News from Home<\/em> – 1976), elle fixait m\u00eame des rendez-vous (Les Rendez-vous d\u2019Anna<\/em> – 1978). Les lettres arrivaient, jet\u00e9es au panier par certains, lues avec passion par d\u2019autres. Je faisais plut\u00f4t partie des \u00ab autres \u00bb. \u00bb\u00a0Ces mots de Serge Daney\u00a0(\u00e0\u00a0lire dans le volume 1 de son Cin\u00e9\u00a0-Journal<\/em>), disent bien\u00a0\u00e0\u00a0quel point\u00a0Akerman, au c\u0153ur des ann\u00e9es 70, encha\u00eene des films d\u2019une importance capitale, aux limites de l\u2019essai et de la fiction de soi, hant\u00e9s par son rapport \u00e0 sa m\u00e8re, Natalia, rescap\u00e9e des camps de la mort. Chaque film invente un dispositif de mise en sc\u00e8ne diff\u00e9rent pour donner lieu \u00e0 des \u0153uvres aussi conceptuelles que visc\u00e9rales qui n\u2019ont jamais cess\u00e9 d\u2019inspirer d\u2019autres cin\u00e9astes (Gus Van Sant, Todd Haynes).<\/p>\n

Cet \u00e2ge d\u2019or de son \u0153uvre, Akerman le portera comme un lourd fardeau, notamment\u00a0Jeanne Dielman<\/em>,\u00a0son chef-d\u2019\u0153uvre fleuve, si abouti et r\u00e9alis\u00e9 si jeune, qu\u2019elle craint ne jamais pouvoir faire mieux. Alors elle continue son exploration existentielle mais ose d\u2019autres registres. Ce sera la com\u00e9die musicale dans l\u2019ambitieux\u00a0Golden Eighties,<\/em>\u00a0film de studio qui regroupe diff\u00e9rentes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations d\u2019acteurs du cin\u00e9ma fran\u00e7ais, de sa premi\u00e8re actrice \u00ab f\u00e9tiche \u00bb Delphine Seyrig \u00e0 Charles Denner en passant par Lio. D\u2019Est<\/em> la voit partir sur les routes d\u2019une Europe \u00e0 nouveau visible suite \u00e0 la chute du mur de Berlin. Elle en revient avec des images presque spectrales d\u2019un monde fig\u00e9. Une femme attendant le bus marquera les esprits. N\u2019est-elle pas le miroir lointain du quotidien ritualis\u00e9 et asphyxiant de Jeanne Dielman<\/em> ?<\/p>\n

En 2000,\u00a0La Captive<\/em>\u00a0d\u2019apr\u00e8s Proust, r\u00e9cit d\u2019une obsession amoureuse, renoue avec l\u2019invention de ses premiers films et\u00a0No Home Movie<\/em>, en 2014, sur sa m\u00e8re malade, boucle l\u2019\u0153uvre de mani\u00e8re d\u00e9finitive. Claire Atherton, sa monteuse et complice pendant trente ans, r\u00e9v\u00e8le dans un texte posthume l\u2019\u00e9vidence qui a saisi la cin\u00e9aste alors qu\u2019elle partait sur vingt heures de rush \u00e9parses :\u00a0\u00ab (\u2026)\u00a0ce film c\u00a0\u2019est un personnage, une femme n\u00e9e\u00a0en Pologne, arriv\u00e9e\u00a0en Belgique en 1938 pour fuir les pogroms et les exactions. Cette femme, c\u00a0\u2019est ma m\u00e8re. Dans et uniquement dans son appartement\u00a0\u00e0\u00a0Bruxelles\u00a0. \u00bb\u00a0La tonalit\u00e9 tragique que prend l\u2019oeuvre d\u2019Akerman avec cet ultime film ne doit pas masquer que son exp\u00e9rimentation permanente et sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 se renouveler prend aussi les formes de l\u2019humour et d\u2019une certaine fantaisie notamment quand elle se met en sc\u00e8ne elle-m\u00eame dans de nombreux courts m\u00e9trages.<\/p>\n

Chantal Akerman avait accept\u00e9 d\u2019\u00eatre membre du jury en 1992 et c\u2019est avec une grande joie et une profonde admiration que le Festival Premiers Plans pr\u00e9sentera ses films fondamentaux dans des copies restaur\u00e9es et en pr\u00e9sence de nombreux invit\u00e9s.
