Dans son livre, Ivan Jablonka prenait le parti fort de retracer la vie de La\u00ebtitia, son parcours accident\u00e9, emprunt de violences sociales et sexuelles. Il qualifie aussi clairement le meurtre de La\u00ebtitia, un crime misogyne, une mort due \u00e0 sont statut de femme. Le livre, c&rsquo;est aussi l&rsquo;histoire de Jessica, la soeur jumelle de La\u00ebtitia, qui l&rsquo;accompagne tout au long de sa courte vie. Le livre voulait rendre \u00e0 La\u00ebtitia son humanit\u00e9, et inscrire son sort dans une r\u00e9flexion politique et sociale sur l\u2019histoire de la domination des hommes sur les femmes. Son scooter a \u00e9t\u00e9 retrouv\u00e9 au petit matin renvers\u00e9 juste devant la maison. Tr\u00e8s vite l\u2019enqu\u00eate de la gendarmerie va reconstituer les derni\u00e8res heures de la jeune fille et mener \u00e0 l\u2019arrestation de Tony Meilhon. Mais s\u2019ils ont la certitude d\u2019avoir identifi\u00e9 le responsable, les enqu\u00eateurs ne retrouvent toujours pas le corps.
