Uspantan<\/em> est le premier long m\u00e9trage de fiction de Cesar D\u00edaz, plus connu jusqu’ici comme monteur (La Costa Dorada, Ixcanul<\/em>) et sc\u00e9nariste. Apr\u00e8s le tournage du documentaire Territorio Liberado<\/em>, le r\u00e9alisateur retourne au Guatemala pour sa premi\u00e8re fiction, une qu\u00eate identitaire intimement li\u00e9e \u00e0 l’histoire contemporaine du Guatemala.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

L’histoire<\/h4>\n

Apr\u00e8s 36 ans de guerre civile, le Guatemala cherche \u00e0 rendre \u00e0 leur famille les cadavres laiss\u00e9s par la dictature. Ernesto, fils d\u2019un disparu politique et d\u2019une survivante de la guerre civile, travaille dans une Fondation qui recherche et exhume les corps des disparus. La qu\u00eate des restes de son p\u00e8re va l\u2019amener \u00e0 questionner ce qu\u2019il a toujours cru et \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 sur ses origines.<\/p>\n

L’auteur<\/h4>\n

Cesar D\u00edaz est n\u00e9 au Guatemala, apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes au Mexique et en Belgique il int\u00e8gre l\u2019atelier sc\u00e9nario de la FEMIS \u00e0 Paris. Il est monteur depuis plus de dix ans, autant des fictions que des documentaires, les derniers projets dans lequel il a travaill\u00e9 sont, Ixcanul<\/em> (Ours d\u2019argent \u00e0 Berlin), Ojala el sol me esconda<\/em>, en comp\u00e9tition \u00e0 Locarno, ou Le Bout du fil<\/em> \u00e0 Rotterdam.<\/p>\n

Son premier film comme r\u00e9alisateur est Semillas de Cenizas<\/em>\u00a0a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 dans une vingtaine des festivals internationaux . Sa deuxi\u00e8me exp\u00e9rience Territorio Liberado<\/em> a gagn\u00e9 le prix IMCINE au Mexique et la bourse Brouillon d\u2019un r\u00eave de la SCAM notamment. Uspantan<\/em> est donc son premier long m\u00e9trage de fiction, et il a gagn\u00e9 avec le sc\u00e9nario le prix du festival d\u2019Amiens, la bourse TyPA en Argentine et le prix Cinergia.<\/p>\n

L’\u00e9quipe<\/h4>\n

Au casting, on retrouve des com\u00e9diens guat\u00e9malt\u00e8ques et mexicains (Armando Espitia, Emma Dib, Aur\u00e9lia Caal), ainsi que la chef op\u00e9ratrice Virgnie Surdej, dont on a pu r\u00e9cemment appr\u00e9cier le travail pr\u00e9cis et percutant dans Insyriated<\/em>, qui lui a d’ailleurs valu un Magritte de la Meilleure photographie.<\/p>\n

Uspantan<\/em> est port\u00e9 par la productrice belge G\u00e9raldine Sprimont pour Need Productions \u00e0 qui l’on doit notamment Le Coeur R\u00e9gulier<\/em> de Vanja d’Alcantara, ou encore les coproductions prim\u00e9es \u00e0 Berlin cette ann\u00e9e et l’ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, Fortuna<\/em> de Germinal Roaux et F\u00e9licit\u00e9<\/em> d’Alain Gomis. Need vient de sortir au Brussels Short Film Festival le court m\u00e9trage You’re Lost Little Girl<\/em> de C\u00e9dric Bourgeois, et d\u00e9veloppe actuellement le prochain film de Delphine Lehericey (Old Dreams<\/em>), ou encore la s\u00e9rie Warning<\/em>, \u00e9crite par Vincent Lannoo, J\u00e9r\u00f4me Colin et Vincent Tavier.<\/p>\n
